About

The Double Docs Podcast is about all things MD/PhD! We are three MD/PhD students at UCLA/Caltech looking to share our experiences leading up to the MD/PhD program and what one can expect as a dual degree student. We hope our podcast helps provide insight into these programs as well as helpful tips for undergrad research, med school applications, and more. You'll also hear from our amazing classmates and faculty, who'll join us each week to provide their unique perspectives on a given topic. We hope you get something out of listening and look forward to meeting you future MD/PhDs!

George

George Daghlian

2nd-year MD/PhD at UCLA/Caltech

SoCal is home to me and I grew up in a tight-knit Armenian community in Pasadena. I completed my undergrad at Caltech with a B.S. in Biology and took a gap research year at USC. My research interests include neuroimmunology, neuroncology, and more recently medical engineering. Whenever I have the time, I love playing and listening to music, watching action movies with siblings, going on long walks in nature, and DIYing things from scrap parts. It’s been such a privilege to take part in this project with Daniel and Dimitri!

Dimitri

Dimitri Cadet

2nd-year MD/PhD at UCLA/Caltech

The quiet suburbs of West Palm Beach are where I grew up, but the city will always be my home. I spent my undergraduate years at Columbia University in New York City, where I completed a BA in Biochemistry. I continued my research at Columbia during a gap semester before shipping off to Los Angeles last year. My research involves mass spectrometry proteomics, molecular pharmacology, and the functional dynamics of brain cancers. When I’m not in the lab or tinkering at the mass spec, you’ll find me hiking, riding my longboard, or reading a book in the desert. But you should double check the mass spec, just in case.

Daniel

Daniel Tang

2nd-year MD/PhD at UCLA/Caltech

I grew up in the lush green hills of West Linn, Oregon and later spent time in the Bay Area, where I completed a B.S. in Bioengineering and M.S. in Computer Science at Stanford University. I'm broadly interested in systems neuroscience, bioengineering, and AI/Machine learning for neurotechnologies. During my free time, I enjoy playing and watching basketball, fishing, working on my car, and more recently, 3D-printing (inspired by George, hahaha).
